The first time I saw "The Wall" I just stopped and starred. It literally took my breath away. There are so many names on it that from even a short distance away the names become lost in a sea of lightness and darkness that melts together to form a soft gray. Here you see me in the wall, just looking. I'd like to say I cried, but I didn't, I was just numb. I just looked and looked until my wife finially took me by the arm and led me away. 
 
One lady walked by and I heard her saying to her companion, "I think one of my neighbors from the old neighborhood is on here". "It's sooo emotional." I could not help but think of the writing on the wall that was attributed to the Marine at Khe Sahn. "Peace for the protected cannot have the flavor, as for the protector."
